Hello you all,

I'm 50 years old, my name is Hans and I'm living near Stuttgart. Scince 25 years I've got now the brit iron virus, and I've had several old brits scince then. My latest project is an A10SR from 1958 which I aquired in Britain. It's in bad condition and a lot of parts are missing or the wrong ones for the model and need to be switched.
I'm very pleased to be on board at this great forum and I think I would have a lot of questions to the specialists during the restauration process.

But the worst the condition of the bike seems, the more I feel the will to bring the bike back to its former glory. At first I have the intention to built up the rolling chasis and that's enough challenge for the moment.The frame is badly dented and bent because of excessive side car use. I don't want to weld the frame and thats the reason I'm searching for a new one.

welcome to the forum. If the frame isnt rusty, just bent and dented, being a welded frame, it can always be straightened and repaired.

Certainly the bike has various dates evident from the early flat sided toolbox to the very late tank, so making it "correct" to a specific year model will be a challenge although certainly possible, once you know which year...

Another thought is to treat it as a blank canvas that can be built into your own interpretation of a BSA twin. It has taken 50 years of evolution to become what it is and being it is not original as per factory despatch, you could continue to evolve the machine to suit yourself. Sometimes owning a non original machine can be a liberating opportunity... Just a thought

It seems that we are brothers in having bad luck with a brit. bike ;)
My A10 Golden Flash - 1960 was also in a very, very bad condition. I owned it for driving but found a big installation site :(
Now it is completely disassembled (spokes included!). Motor went to a German specialist. A lot new bushes, bears and other parts are necessary. A lot of parts have to be cleaned, painted.... Primary will get a belt, dynamo also.

I´m not really far away from Stuttgart - near Auto- und Technikmuseum Sinsheim :) Maybe we will find together for exchange of experiences :)
