Heading out to Bonneville in a few weeks
« on: 07.08. 2015 02:22 »
With all the recent hype on here Thought I would let you know whats going on in my little corner of A7 racing;
 This year has been a good year for Land speed racing with the exception of speedweek being canceled. Late in April we set out to the great white north of Maine to race the first race of the season, was 27˚ and snowing when we arrived. Sat and sunday was faverable weather and we ended up setting records in 3 classes despite some tuning issues throughout the weekend. The following weekend we trucked out to Wilinington Ohio for the ECTA season opener. A change! weather was great! In the week between I made a few changes and picked up almost 10mph over the pervious weekend. Since I was currently holding a record in the 500 class we entered 650 vintage, 650 pushrod, 750 vintage and 750 pushrod. The little 500 setting records in all 4 classes an also our best ever run with 50% nirto at 95.765 in the standing mile topping the old record by over 11mph.
We had our hopes set on speedweek next but excessive mining of the salt surface and poor weather conditions canceled the event. We are however going to the Bonneville Motorcycle speed trials as the salt has hopefully had time to dry out. We will be shooting for an AMA grand national record out there. Dates are Aug 29-sept 3rd Should be a fun week! Here are som pictures from the season thus far

Always good to hear about these bikes being kept in the competition.
Not sure that B50 tank is period  *whistle* but it is BSA  *wink2*

I keep fighting going down the stream lining (fitting a fairing)  track (I like the bike in the raw) but your front wheel bikini has me thinking again...

Keep posting!

Nice work. Are you going to hang around for the vintage GP at Miller? I'm planning to go there. May have to see if I can get an extra day or two off to catch Bonneville as well.

G'day Dan. Great to hear from you again and it's good news. Well done mate.
I'm a little curious as to why the two into one pipe instead of tuned length singles?
Cheers

Im trying out a few exhausts Musky, the cam I have has some crazy overlap and my thinking is using the mass of the exiting gas to fill the cylinders. It's similar in dimension to the one described in Eddie Dows twin tips
