Introduction

Hi,
I recently bought myself a 55 Golden Flash for my 50th Birthday present.  I live in NZ an have no previous experience of vintage bikes.  A friend Tim persuaded me to make the leap and fortunately he has heaps of BSA experience and is guiding me through the many things that require immediate attention.  I am making important contacts for parts and services and Goldie herself has also enabled me to meet many people along the way over the last few weeks – thanks to everyone for the good advice and special thanks to Tim and Ian.  I am attaching some pics of adventures so far.

Welcome - nice looking bike, keep us informed of your progress and is that the sea I see through the trees or a cloud formation

Nice bike mate, I do love the plungers. And nice to see you take your grandaughter on rides.
Don't let Tim touch it, you won't be able to keep the front wheel down *ex* *smile*.

Yes that is the sea - it's the coast road above Matauri Bay in Northland.  I live 5 miles further along the road and the picture below is the view from where we stopped.  *smile*

There's a few NZ members on this forum (I'm one, from Wellington)

Are you a member of the bsa club? (www.bsa.org.nz).

The bsa club has its 2015 national rally on Waitangi weekend, at Kaukau, it will be a few years before the rally is up north again so it would be a good opportunity for you to go along and meet some fellow bsa owners.

Welcome to the forum! That is, indeed, a very nice looking bike. I think Tim steered you to a good one.

As for the Rally, I probably have to miss it, being about 8,200 miles away. I will just have to imagine myself there.

Chris has made the mistake of letting me near it... its a lovely bike and Chris is picking up the arcane mysteries of BSA maintenance very quickly.
Its currently in my shed  *whistle* and Chris is certainly racking up some big mileages on it when I let him use it  ;)
I'm very impressed with how smooth it is, but we do have a few more leaks than I would like, but at least it won't rust.

Chris, I hope you get a lot of fun out of it, if not I may have to buy it off you.

On your recent sail north and being stuck by bad weather out at Great Barrier Island on a forced diet of snapper and crayfish  *wink2* I was tipped off that you were spotted doing research! (refer exhibit 1)  *conf2*
Good to see that once back on dry land you were out riding your Flash machine in the pouring rain (exhibit 2)  *yeah*

In last photo, note special (yellow handled) BSA maintenance tools on floor -the small and the large persuader  *work*
