Fork sliders wanted A7/A10 Plunger
« on: 08.01. 2015 16:40 »
Fork sliders wanted for A10/A7 1955 PLUNGER. Spindle type with two mudguard stay lugs at the bottom and the brackets for the top stay welded on the inside, pointing back with two holes. Maybe sliders from another model may fit. Not too bothered about condition as long as they are not badly damaged and the threads at the top are ok. Part nos if it helps (They are engraved on the slider bottom) are N/S 67-5057 and O/S 67-5050.
The ones I had with the bike are the wrong ones and I didn't notice until I had spent many hours refurbishing them. I am gutted! These are now available and are in primer (I can paint them black if needed). The part nos are O/S 65-5350 (B31/B33 I Think) and N/S 65-5346 (can't tie up what this one is from).
Most important is if you have the correct ones to sell me.

Thanks for your time.

John.

G'day John  *welcome* to the forum.
Sorry I can't help but I'm sure you'll find them. The part numbers are a great help when looking for bits.
I'm sure the forum will be of valuable use to you. Give us a bit of an intro to yourself and bike over in Bikes, Pictures $ Members.
Good luck in your search.
Cheers

Like these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/bsa-a7-a10-b31-b33-m20-m21-fork-legs-/391023785052?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5b0ad5745c
A bit rough and depending on the bore, might need special bushes made. Same as on my '51 plunger.
Cheers

Just in case you hadn't noticed, the fork sliders on Ebay are for a model with 7" single sided front brake, hence the lug at the bottom of the RHS leg, which is to locate with the button on the brake plate. However, I think it is possible to grind the lug off then the sliders are the same as A10 ones. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong (again!).

Ah yes you are right b'macc, same as my '51 A7 plunger. I often forget the A10 was a bit different.
Cheers.

I thought I had what was needed but The sliders I have do not have 2 mudguard mounts, only a rear one, I think they are for a 46-48 a7 (long stroke) or b31, part 65-5360 and 65-5362, am I right? Pics attached.

Well I won the auction but to be honest with you I really think I have paid far too much for the sliders. Those who are interested can go on Ebay to see. I only hope they fit with no further expense. However if that is what these items are fetching I am going to put my original sliders on ebay and hope for a result. I have now painted them black and they look superb. If anyone on the forum wants them then the price is £50 for the pair plus postage. Much less than half the price I gave for the new ones. Can I thank you all for your kind attention, the main thing is I wanted some fork sliders and now I have some.

Received the fork sliders off E Bay yesterday, the threads were that rusted I could fetch them off with my thumbnail! Returned them and got my money back. So! Still after some more.

just goes to show that they'll try and sell even real crap, glad you got your money back still a pain in the ass. Where abouts are you based . Up here in merseyside we 've got a jumble at garstang in March but the big regular one is Rufforth in yorks  1st saturday in the month.Haven't been there for a couple of years but people who have still say it's pretty good for s/hand stuff . Can't help re the other parts  of the country but I think I'd try jumbles if any are near you. regards Bob.

And if you are down south there is the Kempton auto jumble this Saturday at Kempton Park race course. There is always a good selection of parts there.

Hi Top Dad and Biker John - I am at Stoke so my main show is Stafford but that's in April. Problem is I want to get my car back in my garage while this bad weather is on. The A10 is on the ramp minus it's front end. If I could get it to a rolling chassis I could put it elsewhere for a bit, turn the ramp on it's side and get my car in. That's why I am in a rush. It may be worth a run out to an Autojumble but I did go to the Winter Show at Newark with no luck and I wanted to go to Newark this Sunday but have to go to a Christening. Looked on the completed listings on E Bay and found loads of sliders sold recently for about £35 a pair or £25 each!
I'll just keep looking and thanks for your kind words.

John.
