I've recently bought a STD box which only wants to go into first, and nuetral. When you push the lever down for second it just travels its full distance without doing anything.
No idea of the history of this box, any festive ideas anybody?

Hi
The indexing of the selector is out of kilter
the dots should line up for neutral, the inner cover neds to be pulled outwards to realign them
Maybe theres only one gear in there

Thanks very much John! ......One gear!
The one in my bike has had a return spring, and fresh oil regularly in the last thirty odd years, and nothing else. The inner working are a mystery to this day! I'll pull it apart and look for the dots in the morning
