Getting the length correct is vital to smooth clutch operation
The threaded pusher should be straight in line with the pushrod at half lift as well as the operating arm and cable being at 90 degrees to each other at the same time
If the clutch pushrod length was ok before, reduce it by the thickness of the plates removed or,
reduce the rod length a little at a time to achieve the above result ,
then reharden the rod end by heating to "cherry red" and quenching in water !!
If fitting a ball or roller in the centre of the rod you need to harden the rod ends where they meet the ball or roller
