air filter for 626 concentric
« on: 22.08. 2014 19:20 »
i only have room for something that is 1 3/4 inches thick and 2 3/4 inches across. any suggestions? i was also thinking of a rad hose clamped on with some sort of filter beside the oil tank. right now i have a short bell mouth with double screen but that ain't enough to keep the dust out.

Hi Pedro, having the same problem as you. The plunger came with a 928 concentric with an open inlet, not even a screen to at least keep the rocks out.
I've been looking at every jumble, but couldn't find anything that would fit. The only thing that goes on is a short bellmouth with a gauze. Thinking about modifying that one with a second screen and some foam pad sandwiched between them.

Does nothing here fit?:

Use a proper air filter, or no filter. Gauze over the inlet is useless. It restricts flow, causing over-rich mixture at high flow and it doesn't stop the particles that cause wear.

i have a short bellmouth with screen like you morris and had a finer screen install below the main screen. trouble is that there is lots of dust around here and i suspect that that is one of the reasons my plugs keep getting fouled and it sure ain't good fer my new valves and rings. my supplier in abq attempted to make me a pancake which hasn't arrived yet. he said if it doesn't work,i don't have to pay him. now that is great service!

I'm guessing you have a iron head..?  If so, that makes it marginally less hard, but that pancake might be the go, but theoil tank might still interfere. Whatever you fit, it might mess up the jetting a bit too

Dust doesn't foul plugs. Obstructed intakes can.

What sort of filter was on A7s exported to dusty countries?
