G'day kev, I've absolutely no idea, but the frame suffix I think is different- I think it all comes down to gearbox stuff and maybe some frame and running gear, but am guessing - others will know better
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

G'day Kevin  *welcome*.
CA10SR is a Spitfire Scrambles number from 58 or 59, frame is 58. Does it have pillion peg loops?
Cheers

Hi Kevin
Engine No right for 58
Frame No is a bit different 58 appears to start at CA7A 327 but 59 starts FA7A 101....
could be a misprint or the FA frames also on other models made up the difference?

go herehttp://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/Engine_Frame_Listing.html#1960
you might see what I didn't
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum

You'll find it a friendly place where eventually you'll find what you seek

As muskrat points out the spitfire scrambler frame came without the loops on the frame that anchor the foot pegs for a passenger

What part of BC are you located ?

Cheers

Hi Kevin,
Theres a detailed rebuild log of the first production 57 spitfire scrambler going on over in britbike forum
http://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=496950#Post496950

I know the author has done an incredible amount of research on the early Spitfires and may be able to help with your enquiries
It appears that not all the information floating about as references are entirely correct   *conf* *conf* *conf*

Kevin

As well as this forum as a great resource, there's also some useful info posted at the following link
http://www.gpwcew.com
specifically BSA propaganda/sales brochures of the 50's / 60's including the Spitfire

So you're down in the valley eh ?

I'm in Squamish area and FYI there is the squamish motorcycle festival this weekend.
www.squamishmotorcyclefestival.com
It's a 2 day affair with a bit of everything for all types of cycles

A bunch of Squampton-ites will be taking some old iron there.
I'll be the one with the slowest, drippy-ist B33.

If you feel like a ride up hwy 99 drop in and say hello

thats an amazing read right enough,  here are some photos of the bike, the frame is i believe a 1958 A10 and the engine number is 58 spitfire scrambler, but someone has stamped "WA" around it 3 times ??? as in Washington State where i purchased it although it had an Oregon Title and plate, the old Vet that i bought it from said it was that way when he bought it around 1980
the engine number itself does not appear to have been tampered with i dont think, carb # is 389/81 which is a gold star carb i think, bottom of cylinders stamped 67-1210
if anyone can help with identifiying the bike and or components feel free please
thanks
Kevin

Yep- that's genu-whine Alligator....!    *whistle*  *smile*

By no means nit-picking, just I was wondering if that rear wheel is what came stock on the Scramblers (makes sense) don't others of circa '58 have the other ones...or was it an option...?
