Gents (and Ladies, if you're reading),
Without starting a new topic, this seems a good place for this. First, continuing cudos to Erling, our administrator and founding father, who keeps this going at great effort and endurance. Likewise to Muskrat, our temporarily fallen moderator who must break up the fights (What, one a year?) and keep it clean.
The reason I'm writing is to remind us of the friendly camraderie here that can be otherwise rare elsewhere. For example, for lack of a local BSA club, I belong to a club related to a different British mark. The president of the club posted a notice about a ride that would take place. I asked him a question about the ride and was disappointed by his response. The exchange follows here with some editing, to make him and the club hard to ID.
[Hello Mr. President],
Do you know if there will be a group heading out of [around where I live]? I certainly would not want any plans adjusted based on my very iffy circumstances, but, if there is no [ride from nearby me], it would be nice to know if [the ride leader's] group will take a [more westerly route]. That way, it might be possible to somehow hookup about where they cross [the highway I would take].
Richard
[from Mr. President]
Contact [the ride leader], and if you are going contact me by [the deadline] with a RSVP or don’t come.
[signed by the president]
Real nice, huh?
