OMG! (are geezers allowed to use that?) I think I was quite accidentally and unconciously the 50,000th post. Back in the day I used to delete posts to avoid passing 1000 and seeming obsessed. Too late.

Yes indeed, congrats, and I remember your great support for the forum in the humble beginning, thanks.

and btw, owned a VW Beetle as well, 68', remembering it as lots of fun + with the right tires what a great car in the snow and adverse conditions we sometimes get here (but next to no heating, had to dress well!) And painted it mil green with a US star on the sides, in this style lol > http://i89.servimg.com/u/f89/11/09/77/84/dsc03610.jpg Was a great time, being young!

I hate old Beetles and the microbus variant! I was a mechanic back when there were still lots around. Flippin gutless things! Horrible to work on the engine in situ: best to take the unit out. I had a couple of split screen Morris Minor convertables, (US Soft top) around that time and comparing the two I much preferred my Moggies. The Beetle was a great car for it's time but was outdated by the 1960's.

I had a friend who had a record player deck in the dashboard of his Beetle.

Geez GreyB's, I bet you had a fair bit of groovin happening at every speedbump/pothole-or do they only exist in Oz??

  V-Dubs are great - we had a '62  1200, but was better after I grafted in a flat 1600 from a type3, then we had a T3 wagon....also awsome
Was a bloke here in Brizzy had a 'dub donk in a Beemer in the 70's...

But now my Beezers' even better, and congrats on the 50,000 that has to be worth a carton or two....???
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

We invented potholes in the UK and then exported them to Oz, along with your naughty ancestors.  ;)  No, no need to thank us!

The record player deck wasn't too bad on the move actually; it must have been well sprung.
