I tried a couple of pry-bars, tried a two-legged puller after grinding the legs to fit, then tried both methods with some heat with the oxy-acetyline bottles in conjunction with the puller, pry bars, and little hits from a big hammer. I ended up cutting into the sprocket with a disc cutter, parting it with a cold chisel, and ordering a new one.
The new one went on with a bit of grease (copaslip) on the shaft.
