An old A10 and a forum newb.
« on: 24.07. 2013 11:16 »
Hi,

I have owned this A10 for 25 years and ridden it many tens of thousands of miles.  All over Europe and the UK.  Its been thru many incarnations

The bike has been laid up many years - partly because of an oil pressure problem for which I am stumped!  I'll ask about that on the main forum.

Longest trip was glasgow/ moscow / st petersburg/ Nordkapp and home.  For many years it was also a daily ride.  Its a real bitsa with nothing matching at all and 70s honda forks with a later BSA front hub, 18 inch rims, end fed crank,  rocket spec pistons and cam.  Would do an honest ton anyday.

Me - early 50s live in Edinburgh.  Looking to get the old girl running again.  First step taken - its up and running and insured.

Sounds like you really use the old girl.

BTW: Enjoyed your Scottish tandem holiday pics!

Been laid up ten years.  Its a bike for riding not for showing thats for sure so its a realshame its not been ridden for a while.  Rode it around for the first time in years yesterday.  However the low oil pressure I thought I might have fixed still was an issue

Passed my test on it with a sidecar in the 80s.  That was fun.  Rode it at 100 mph up the m6 until it broke - oil tank split from vibration.  Many gory tails to tell.  I'll try to find some photos and scan them in.

Hello there,
I met you once before.... I gave you a seatpan in fact (Probably about '94) *smiley4*
I'm no longer in Edinburgh these days.
Good to see both you and the bike here.
Cheers,

Hi, did you used to park up down in Leith on the waterfront?
I have had my A10 for a wee bit longer (40 years now) originally in Edinburgh but now in the borders with a few places in between!
It's worth coming along to the Lothian and Borders Classic Bike club meets at the Ledburn inn on the Penicuick to Peebles Road first Thursday of the month at about 7:30 there is usually a few A7 and A10 there.
They run an auto jumble and are a good source of info/ parts

Cheers

G'day Borderer,  *welcome*
Start a new topic and intro yourself. We're an inquisitive bunch and love to see pics of A7/10's.
Cheers

hi borderer

Yep I missed Peebles this year (chronic disorganization on my part) but usually get to it, probably I've met you there but not known you, we need a badge or tee, I'd suggest a pink carnation but doesn't really go with leather jackets
All the best - Bill
