Hi Sprint, Help me out if you can. My gearbox is leaking badly and I have stripped out the primary drive side to be better able to see where the leak was coming from. I was expecting it to be the final drive sprocket oil seal but that was as dry as a bone. My leak is coming from below that from around what looks like a bronze plug. Is that the end of the bush you are refering to?. Have you fixed yours yet because and what did you use, I need to do the same rather than strip the box AGAIN!.
Regards Huddie
Hi Huddie
Mine is a RR2T box so it has a blind needle bearing, but your will be a blind phosphor bronze bush as you have found.
Have not finally decided which sealant to use as I have not removed the chaincase I have a very limited access from underneath with the sprocket also in the way so I may use the putty type liquid steel sealant as it may be much easier to apply?
If you are looking for a semi-permanent solution that may be the way to go but I have no experience as to how hard it will be to remove the sealant at a later time?
Others who may have more experience on its use may be able to advise?
