Thanks guys
Well, we made it to LA. No problems and we picked up the van at 2.30 and had time to do Walmart, Harbor freight (big tarp and a cheap cordless drill) and radioshack for a CB antenna.
We're in a Best Western close to the shippers staving off sleep till 9PM (5AM UK time).
We'll be up early & at the shippers for when they open.

Briz,

It's funny hearing you talk about Walmart, Harbor Freight, and Radio Shack. Can't quite figure out why you ended up in L.A. from the U.K., rather than Denver or, maybe Salt Lake City.

Like everyone here, I'm also in awe of the engineering, pulling for you and anxious to hear of the results. As for hoping for a record, I understand that, for now, you are in a class on your own, so, a record guaranteed. Correct?

I went to the Salt Flats web site to see If I could figure out when you would be running, but it appears you can't get that fine of detail on the schedule.

Even though I'll be travelling right over Utah during race week (Sept. 2-9?), it will be hard to drop in from 35,000 ft.

Regards

Richard L.

Just look out your window Richard. It'll be the only dust trail from a BSA keeping up with your plane. *grins*

Richard: the bike shipped by sea. We had to rent a van & pick it up at Long Beach.

We got the bike picked up OK, via a detour to get some con-rods for David at Scat and some stainless rod-ends for me at SoCal speed shop.
Made Vegas mid afternoon and holed up at Main Street Station where they have a decent range of local-brew beers. Which we felt honour-bound to sample. Extensively.
In spite of this we were able to get up & on the road early on Weds so were got to Ely (240 miles) for lunch, then the last 120 miles to Wendover by about 4pm.
Checked into the Nugget. First annoyance is no wifi in the room so I'm having to do this in bloody starbucks.
Next annoyance was a huge thunderstorm. Spectacular, but the salt is now calf-deep in water. Everything has been put back by a day. hoping it all dries out in time.

Briz,

So, I think I'm starting to get it. Southern California Timing Association have a race week starting on 7 August, while Utah Salt Flats Racing Association have their race dates starting on 6 September. I am pretty sure you must be in the former. I wish I could be there, but, contrary to popular belief, Chicago is not right next door to Utah.

We'd definitely go nuts here waiting another month for the racing to start!
Latest word is that we'll be able to setup & do tech on Sunday and racing commencing on Monday.
So we're stuck for 2 days with nothing to do in a town where theres definitely nothing to do!
Either sitting here with the laptop or in Carmens Bar & Grill (which doesn't do food...so much for the grill!) Scruffy but good mexican resturant down the road makes a change from eating in casinos.

G'day Briz.
Have you caught up with Dan and his Greezy Gringo A10 yet?

Would be good to get two forum members together doing that on film.
