A10 1954 tidy up update
« on: 16.11. 2008 17:09 »
Finished tidying her up
Took her for a run this morning went well still have to sort the charging out and seems to be pressurie in the top end as when I parked her up I can hear the tank cap air hole letting air out
Last night when I turned her over I did not have the rocker oil feed pipe fitted and it was breathing out through the rocker shaft I never thought to much about that and carried on and finidhed putting it together, but now I am wondering if the timed breather is not fitted or lined up correctly (i have not had the bottom end apart).
I have no idea as to what may happen other than forced oil leaks around the top end I may fit a breather in the rear tappet cover to try and releive it for now.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this little problem every thought will be gratefully received

It's hard to imagine that the timed breather would not be fitted. Maybe the cork is compressed and ineffective.
A friend had trouble with his A.J.S. with oil being forced into the generator. He fitted a P.C.V. valve from a car into one of the rocker covers and eliminated the problem

Trev
I think it is a good idea to fit a top end breather I did that on my Super Rocket and I have not had a rocker box gasket leak since,
I found out what the problem with the Gold Flash was I had very little petrol in the tank I had just come back from a fast run out and the old girl was hot and it heated the petrol up and it was the gas venting.
I must try to keep more fuel in the tank and also not get it so hot.
All the best
