1948 Rigid A7 parts needed, trades?
« on: 04.05. 2013 05:18 »
Looking for the following parts to finish my rigid longstroke 1948 A7 so I won't have to make them!
Upper (main) chainguard
Left side front engine mounting plate
rear brake rod
Rear mudguard(fender) for Rigid. I have an unmolested plunger fender, which I would trade only if I find a rigid fender.
For trades, I have rigid A7 engine spares, some A10 parts, A65 and B44 parts. IF you have any of my requests above, feel free to offer a trade.
Cheers, Vincent

Hi Vincent, there is a fella in Australia that makes those rigid longstroke chainguards top and bottom. I will try and find his email for you. The front engine mount is sought after by many they are very hard to find but keep trying one may turn up. You may have to use the open type till you find the closed one with small hole for dynamo wires.
You should be able to get a brake rod.
Rear mudguards for plunger and rigid are almost the same. I have both bikes and I put the mudguards side by side basically they are the same. Its just the bracket on the guard for where the plunger L brackets attach needs to be moved from the top of the guard to where the hinge is for the other rigid type bracket to attach thats it.
I hope that makes sense and helps.
cheers Terry

Thanks Terry, if you can let me know that maker of the chainguard it would be appreciated. I can probably use an A65 or B44 brake ros, but the real hard to get piece is the front engine mount. I would accept an open type as I will likely use a later, longer generator. Anybody have one of those to spare?

Bear bin mind that the chainguard is in two pieces, top run & bottom run.

British Cycle is only an hour away, but judging by those pics I could probably make one as good if not better. I have a good lower run guard, just need the top. My welding and sheet metal skills surely match or equal the average New Delhi slum factory.
