Introduction
« on: 03.05. 2013 20:13 »
A moderator has tactfully suggested that I introduce myself as a new member.
I own a modern touring motorcycle; a decision which I came to a year ago after having found my Suzuki Bandit too uncomfortable for long journeys. I used to play with the Bandit, making things, luggage mounts, screen and seat mods but the new bike is as near perfect as I can wish for.

I therefore, find myself, with nothing to mess with and was looking around for a second bike. I stated looking at Hinckley Thunderbirds, CX500s and Moto Guzzis but have now come round to returning to my roots with an old Brit. I haven't got one yet but an A10 is very very close on the horizon.....

I can't wait.

G'day Keith, welcome to the forum.
You won't regret getting an A7/10. Buy one to ride and the smiles start straight away. Buy one to rebuild and there's enough help and info here so the riding won't be far away.
Cheers

Go for the beezer mate, hope the A10 doesn't cause too many heartaches! (but if you want low maintenance, indestructible, just get a CX).

Gday jools,
Isn't the cx called 'the plastic pig'?
Must have some character to earn a name like that.

Welcome Keith.
cheers

'Plastic Maggot' actually mate, (and well-deserved if we're talking aesthetics).
However, function is altogether a different matter.

Hello everybody!

It has arrived. 1962 A10. I was really excited waiting for it to arrive. Now reality has hit me.
Now I am making a list of things I need to do:
Reeeeeeeeeeally stiff clutch
Centre stand obviously worn somewhere - hurts my back to put it on the stand.
Inflate tyres.
Source a cheap 6v battery.
Sort the brakes

Great stuff Keith. Let the fun begin. Give us a picture of it now before you start.
Post questions in the appropriate sections eg clutch, primary & gearbox.
Cheers

Keith, I recon most of us here would love to pick up a project in as good a nick as that. A great way to start.
Are you going to see how she runs and stops first?
Good luck with it.
Cheers

Yes, I'm going to get it on the road first then do it bit by bit. Should keep me going through the wet British summer!

Maybe you could still swap it for a Guzzi?
