New ( Old ) Boy
« on: 19.04. 2013 18:00 »
Just back in the BSA saddle after fifty years, last good bike was a '58 Super Rocket ( ONJ 377 ) which I carelessly threw away one corner on the way to work.
In the seventies acquired a 2T Fanny Bee for many years, spent most of it's time in the garage - and NOW a 1958 Shooting Star which is a wonderful beast. The A7 is really great fun and for days when I can't find my hair shirt I have to take out a 1993 Ducati Paso 906.

As can be seen from the A7 pic the brake pedal is a touch curly....so a little work required here.

The Forum has been a great source of info so Many Thanks for All the Help.

Hi Oldrocker, welcome to this great forum, been really useful for me.
The S/Star looks ace, and very original, regarding the brake pedal, could the foot rest be set too low with the brake adjusted high, mine is slighly high of the foot rest.
Enjoy.

Thanks Guys - for the Welcome and the advice.  I'm on the Sussex/Kent border, not far from where I misspent my youth. Great roads for the Beezer around here - if you mind the potholes !  Someone did a good restoration job on the A7 several years ago and the engine sounds sweet. The exhaust sounds even better, though that might be down to a lack of baffles....

All Best.

Hi Rocker - sounds like you are not too far from me - I am in the Ashford area. Plenty of potholes here too, especially going across Romney Marsh!
They do sound nice without baffles - one of the first jobs I did when I bought my bike was to swap my standard silencers for a pair of goldies - the neighbours have not spoken to me since  *smile*.

Thanks mf, Jim & Chicago, The Paso was  bought like an on-line bride....very pretty but....took it out this morning and my wrists still ache. It's heavy, Man.
Love Romney Marsh Jim,  probably catch up with you at the Oasis one day. Had goldies on my Rocket, I can still hear the tweet.

Attached is a pic Of Days of Old when I was less cautious - taken from a standard eight movie of 1964 vintage. I think the angle of lean owes more to the handling characteristics of the A10 than the profile of the Speedmaster Mk2 tyres !
