G'day WozzA, send it up and I'll have a look if you want. Not much goes wrong inside but the bodies aren't the best.
Cheers

Scratches and grooves on plates can be fixed by grinding paste on glass etc.

I've seen mislignment issues in the holes in the pump end plates cause locking up, occurs when the bolts are done up.

It happened on my A10 pump which is actually an alloy A65 body with A10 drive end bolted onto it. Yes that setup works fine  *lol*. There are wider gears in A65 pumps so more flow  *yeah* (just like the SRM pump).

Running a drill through the end plates to slightly widen the holes fixed the alignment problem. Just do the bolts up a bit at a time and whilst making sure the pump still spins over.

This might work, might not. I've also seen bodies tht have distorted and the gears rub, I'm not sure if THAT can be fixed by a DIYer.

Yep they can be a bugger Kiwi, you have got the method thou. Do the screws up a little at a time criscross. I also give it a light tap with a mallet whilst turning it. I also made a jig to bolt it to so I know it spins when mounted on the case.
WozzA, I'll give it a going over and mount it in the cafe to see what pressure it gives. It'ed better give some, don't want to blow her up *eek* LOL.

How'd ya get that in there Wozz??  30/40  is usually ok  *smile*

On the other hand best you analyse the 'muck'- could be indicative of something amiss..?

NOT GUILTY...  I bought the bike in bits & pieces...
My guess is that it was 20+year old oil that turned into sludge... ????
Yeah the motor is undergoing a total rebuild as we speak..   *smile*

G'day WozzA
Your old one is NOW almost as good as the SRM, and just as good as mine. After about 4 hours of fettling and fitting I put it in the café. On cold start fast idle it was giving 325kpa and returning well to the tank. After a few minutes warm up it gave 450kpa at 5000rpm. I then took it for a quick 6 mile blast around the block. At 60mph (3250rpm) it showed 350kpa and at idle gave 175kpa. Good as gold. 350kpa = 50lbs.
I think it may have been built out of bits as the drive end outrigger was not square and 8 thou out of line, but may have been caused by mounting it with different thickness gaskets under the body and outrigger. Over time would have twisted it.
Anyway it?ll be back in the post today. Good to have a good spare.
Cheers

Musky may I ask what sort of fettling and fitting? e.g. Do you use heat when you "untwist" the outrigger?. Mine seems to be pretty much like Wozza describes his. Thanks Gav
