hi folks, just a quick question before i put my case's back on. on a 1947 longstroke engine, should there be a cork/felt washer inbetween the camshaft pinion and the breather ?.

as there isnt one on mine and as ive gathered this washer is supposed to eliminate end float on the cam ?.

Hi.
Should be cork washer between pinion and breather, different sizes available to correct end float.
1960 Super Rocket, owned since 1966, back on the road 2012 after being laid up for 29yrs.

Hi
It is very important to fit the cork washer, its a necessary part of the timed breather !!
The thickness of the washer should be the next thicker one than one that allows zero endfloat on the breather sleeve, so its compressed a bit when the case is tightened up
It does NOT control endfloat of the cam.
