Wanted A7 Crank
« on: 14.09. 2012 11:23 »
Does anybody have one? Mine has snapped. Heartbreaking.

Thanks in anticipation.

Update. I've just spoken to Rob Wardle who has stripped my engine this morning. It now turns out that I need a new crank, a new set of con rods and a new set of cases.

I am speechless.

BUGGA, what happened mate? I've had a couple let go, lucky you don't need barrels as well.
Good luck in your hunt for bits.

Riding along nice as pie and the crank just snapped in half. Luckily I was only doing about 30mph so I just pulled the clutch in and coasted to a halt. Un-luckily, the break had utterly destroyed the con rods, crank and also the cases. The barrels and pistons etc do seem to be ok, but it's just sole destroying after all the time and effort I have put into getting that bike right over the past few years.

I know that feeling, then I turn it into motivation to build a better one. Was the crank ground recently? Might be easier to turn it into an A10 with LJ crank and TF barrels. I modified the SS head to suit.

Check the broken one for incorrect grind radius.

Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

The way things are currently looking I might be taking you up on your one in Melbourne Andy. I am not having any success anywhere closer!

Cheers John, I've dropped them an email to see if they can help. Just out of interest, are A10 and A7 cases exactly the same?

Thanks,

Simon

Hello Simon

Bad luck with the blow up. I have a spare pair of A7 crankcases if you are still looking. The only problem is I am in New Zealand but no problem to ship them if required. Regards JC

Hi Simon,

I will have a spare A10 big journal crank going as soon as I have my new crank finished, If you need it then your name is on it.  Free if you use it!
I can even deliver it pretty close to most places in central and lower England free.

Regards,
Julian
