Bush Dimension
« on: 25.07. 2012 00:49 »
A7 Longstroke
I cannot seem to find the orginal size of the timing side journal so I can order the correct size bush.
I understand they come in -10, -20 etc but what is the datum size that I use to determine how undersize the part needs to be.
My thanks again
Stephen

Muskrat - just to confirm the the big end journal (bottom of conrods) and the timing end journal that goes in the main bearing (bush) are the same size when original?
Thanks again

I'm not clued up on Longstrokes, so won't go guessing sizes, but with the Main-bush,one option and I think a common practice is to just have the Main journal skimmed round with minimal material removed, and either have bush made to suit, or buy one next size under and line bore it to suit(which needs to be done anyway). That way the crank will last longer....?

The bush has got to be machined out so the more metal your have the better. C and D autos

making the bushing is easy as pie...
but would be nice to have the factory dimensions to start with...
what is the thrust face thickness...???
