Wiring loom cable
« on: 12.07. 2012 11:58 »
Does anyone know of a source in the UK where I can by colour coded automotive cable. For example green with red or brown tracer, white with brown tracer etc. I have looked at the websites of the usual suspects (Vechile Wiring Products) and other similar outlets. None of them seem to stock this type of cable. They do have single colour cable in stock, red, black, and so on.  Looks like I might have to go to a breakers yard and get and old car loom to cut up. Has anyone here gone down that route?

Hi John

I am surprised that you have not found the cable you need at VWP. I have just been on their website and they show stock of the colours you mention on the drop-down menus next to the cable description. They have more colours in the thinwall type with the higher current carrying capacity.
Not sure if PVC sheath is what you are after or whether you are looking for fabric sheath which may be a challenge to source.

Jim,

Well observed! No, I did not notice the drop down menu, all I noticed was "black" Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I can get on with the job now.
