Wanted front hub

Does anyone have a half width front hub like this kicking around?



A bare hub will do, as long as the brake drum is in good nick.
Don't need a rim, will be lacing it up to a 16", but might consider a full wheel,
if it's having much cheapness!

Yes I have heaps of them but I'm in Australia it might be a bit too expensive to post to UK. You should find one over there.

I thought it wouldn't be too hard either, but the ones I've found have been badly pitted.

Thanks for the offer Bonny, but I'm really looking for a 7" hub.
I already have the spokes and have machined a spindle, spacer and brakeplate to suit.
I may get back to you if I get really stuck, how much would you want for it?

Thanks John, I saw that one, and it's just round the corner from me, unfortunately it has the spoke flange missing.... bugger!

Not wishing to deter you, I have one of these sitting on a shelf and another laced up (so that I could put my B33 back to standard). However I wouldnt put one of these on anything but a trail bike or a C11. Being a pressing and only 7" they don't cope at all well in modern traffic hauling in a 500cc cast iron engined lump. They fade badly with repeated use and are pretty marginal for anything other than poodling along at 50kph.
I appreciate if you are building for originality you may have to live with this brake and you have my sympathy, but would personally suggest the 8" cast half width hub is way superior and looks almost identical. Few people will notice and any rider will understand.
Personally I'd rather stop anytime than have the right hub.

Thanks RR, I totally agree, the 8 inch is a much better brake.
It's just that I had a 7 inch setup, of which I had modified the spindle, bearings and brakeplate to fit the springers I'm using.
When I came to lace it up, I found the brake drum was cracked, which didn't amuse me!
I really should have checked it beforehand, but, well..... , no buts, I should have checked it first.
As my inner Yorkshireman doesn't like to waste anything, if I can get another 7 inch hub, I can use the parts I already have.
Think I'm going to pm bonny and see how much he's wanting for his hub and brakeplate, so I can make an informed decision.

There are also a couple of C11 wheels on ebay
The 7" one is the same as the B31 as far as I know
I have one of these on my Ariel HT5 and with good soft linings machined to suit its a very good brake
(of course the Ariel is nice and light  ????)
