Wanted: rev-counter for a 1960 Super Rocket
« on: 01.04. 2012 14:23 »
I know this is a long shot but I'm looking for a correct rev-counter (tachometer) for my 1960 A10 Super Rocket. My BSA was bought new here in Holland in 1960. As we Dutchies are known to be cheap the original owner ordered one without a rev-counter. I know these aren't cheap but if anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard,
Welcome,
I can only suggest contacting one of the chrono restorers David Woods or Ian Bartram
who would build one for you.
I need one as well  ????

Found one! I bought one from a fellow Brit bike enthusiast over here in Holland. Case closed.

Draganfly sell those bits off the shelf, but finding a nice 3:1 chrono is more problematic...

hi guys, came across this one which is 3.1 ratio so should run from an oil pump drive, does anyone have any idea why it wouldn't, original one in pic to show direction, cheers

I thought these rotated the wrong way, but don't know that for a fact. I was going to convert a chronometric speedo which is readily done but a genuine 3:1 turned up so I bought that instead.
A mate has recently bought an electronic one that looks the part for his race bike, might be an option.

Kiwi,
The magnetic tacho is driven in the opposite direction to that of the A10.
The A65 oil pump is also opposite to the A10.
