1954 Shooting Star Rebuild
« on: 10.03. 2012 04:01 »
Hi everyone, it's been a while since I jumped on here. I stopped work on my RR last April because I came across a 1954 A7 Shooting star crank case and frame....so guess what, that's what I've been doing all year. Trying to have it running for the All Britsh Rally at Newstead Vic. Australia late april.
I'm just waiting on the header pipes and the original type 6 carbs to be finished and then hopefully in the next week or so I can get kicking (or someone else can)
I have attached some pics so you can see the progress....nearly there
Cheers
Andy

PS. Sorry about photo quality, I took them with my phone
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks all. I will see all the locals at the All British Rally. Be sure to say hello, you won't be able to miss our spot lots of those gazebo thingys together and I will have the BSAROCKETMEN banners up. I can wait to get this running. I am still waiting on my header pipes, i sure hope they get here on time as I don't have a back up plan.
And finally my bike is now off the stand, so I have been able to get to sorting out the last little bits and pieces. I have also got the type 6 carbs on now, they really look the part.
I've also had to modify a pair of levers so that I can use them as my hands are stuffed from the accident, I'm just waiting on the chrome.
I've got a heap of pics of the progress on my website.

Muskrat the manifolds that were on the bike with the monoblocks came from dynodave. $100 plus post will get you a pair. (just google him)
Check out the manifolds I have with the type 6 carbs.
Cheers
Andy

Gee it's looking great Andy.
The type 6 manifolds look the goods but I would prefer the extra length of the others. I was under the impression they were $100 each.
Cheers
