Welcome back Dave.
Agree with you when you say nothing sounds (as beautiful) as a BSA A10.
Heard a Duc passing by the other day and it crossed my mind that it came pretty close though... but not entirely *smile*

Hello All,

Am still loitering around and picking up plenty of tips from your fine forum!

My A10 rebuild is making some progress at last and hope to be kicking her into life before too long. Where've we heard that one before?

I bought the bike as a roughly restored non-runner and have pretty much rebuilt everything. A lot of it was wrong or knackered... It's a '58 Golden Flash but it came with an alloy head so I thought I'd keep it, with new flat-top pistons fitted. It's my first full rebuild so it's taught me a lot about how british bikes go together. I also have a B40WD on the road, my first british bike. That's taught me a thing or two as well.

Luckily I'm good mates with Beezermac who has been an invaluable help with advice, encouragement, parts and help with tricky jobs like the timing side bush, mag and anything else I bottle out of.

I also receive regular support and abuse from the Cheshire Branch of the BSAOC, a great bunch with a vast amount of knowledge.

Bye for now, Paul.

Hello Tomcat here, I'm still around but don't log on much. Still got my 3 Beeza's, the A7 going nicely, the A65 getting another base gasket (I found the cause this time!) and the Super Rocket is getting a rebuild. Thanks to all the contributors for sharing the experiences with your motorcycles. Cheers Tomcat

I might be around more this year if things go to plan. Since I moved to Hungary in 2011 my '48 A7 has been off the road and there has not been much incentive to do anything with it, as it is stored in a very dark building with no electricity. I should be moving to Croatia in the spring and it can then go in a double garage with lights and power. I might not have time until the winter but as a minimum I intend to rebuild the engine. I've had the bike since 1995 and the engine has never been apart, so it has never had any sludge trap attention! Regrettably this work will be in preparation to bring the BSA back to UK and sell it. In Croatia you can only import vehicles under 12 years old.

Well, that's stupid (but not you).

Welcome back, Fido. Good to hear from you. The way you move around in that end of the world, one might imagine you're in the business of servicing used armaments.

G'day Julian. I spy on your HCS fb page. See the scrambler is there but too clean, she needs some mud on her.

http://laurence.swain.me.uk/about.html Well, this the address of his website, and there are contact details on it. I have heard through the grapevine that he has lost interest in motorcycles. However, he still has his bikes as far as I know, but no longer rides them. The website is worth a visit in it's own right, there is some very interesting reading to be had about LJ's various motorcycling exploits.

LJ was a great support at the start of the forum, became moderator. Later he wanted to retract somehow from the forum scene (maybe the motorcycling scene). Hoping all is well with him and family.
