I'm still around and get the A10 out on a semi-regular basis. I finally had it flat-out on the highway, saw a bit more than 90 on the speedo (around here that's dangerous territory) and hardly anything fell off, so there was that. Here's a guy riding what looks like my A10 and who looks a lot like me, except I cannot reconcile that anyone who lives around here would leave for a ride in May without his rain gear, which might explain his expression given how soggy he is.  ;)

Hello there, RGS man here.
Now back on the road, just about sorted, running really well, sore wrists from the clip ons. Few oil leaks here and there! really teed off, the new carb I bought from Amal in the uk is not functioning as it should. When tickled, petrol spews out of the top of the tickler, goes all over the motor, it only stops when I thump the float bowl with a hammer!! (very lightly I must confess) taken it apart, but still cant cure it.
Other than that, really enjoying it, brings back memories of my your when I had a Rocket, funny though, I dont remember having as much vibration in those days!

Hi, I'm still alive.
The BSA is on the back-burner as my attention has been focused for
quite some time on my Supercharged Indian that I have air-freighted
from Copenhagen Denmark to the great white dyno: The Bonneville Salt Falts, Utah, USA

I'll be back !

Hello folks.

I have a low mileage 1955 plunger Golden Flash A10 'mouldering' at the back of my garage patiently waiting for me to restore her.

I got the BSA in the early 70's as part payment for an Ariel Square Four that I had bought for £60 without a Registration document. The Square Four was a 1938 4G model with rigid rear end and girder forks, like this one, only not so shiny http://tinyurl.com/3mb8dzo.
Someone had made a start on doing the bike up but it was not running. After stripping paint from the front number plate I was able to make out the rusted outline of the original registration number. I asked the DVLC for a replacement logbook hoping that the bike had not been stolen. They sent out an inspector who told me that the bike had not been taxed since it was two years old! My theory was that the owner had been killed in the war and the bike had not been used since then! I never managed to get the beast to run; probably a weak magneto. Anyway, I put an advert in Exchange & Mart and got £60 cash plus the A10 in exchange for the Squariel.
I soon had the Beeza looking really nice. I replaced the sidecar ratio rear sprocket for a solo one and really enjoyed riding the bike. It looked gorgeous. I was very proud of it!

One day in about 1975, while the bike was on its centre stand outside my house an idiot in a car reversed into it and knocked it over, smashing the headlamp and denting the headlamp cowl. I was heartbroken and have not ridden the bike since then.

However, now I'm retired I intend to get the BSA going again. I just need to get a few things cleared out of my garage and then I'll make a start.

It's going to be expensive; I'll need wheel rebuilds, new exhaust system, new tyres and tank replating. I am able to do the mechanicals and paint myself; I used to be a car and motorbike mechanic.

I'll try to remember to keep in touch with this forum.

This is an interesting subject, nice to see some not so well known names. (I shouldn't be here, I bother the forum too much)

Maxwell - no one should be allowed to ride an A with a scowl like that - have his licence taken from him and give the bike a good home.

Octane - I vote you are to be renamed Salty
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

Hi all, I am still here... Life is getting busier by the day and I have to admit I have not had a great deal of time to do anything. I still have the 51 A10 and still manage to find time at least once a week to clean out the pipes. ian

If it helps, I still haven't dried out, and that was mid-May! Someone else got a shot of me that's even worse a few minutes later, I look like my dog just died. ;)

Hi

I am still here. The Goldenflash is in good condition and I haven't ridden it much because of the poxy weather and also because I treated the wife and I to some long trips abroad after retiring.

I have a lurk into the forum about once a week.

Regards

Mick

I'm still here too.  Thanks for rattling my cage.
Still own and still ride the A10.  Mainly just short rides through the canyons in Southern California.

Glad to hear most folks are doing well.

Glenn,

Good to hear from you again. From the picture, I was thinking it was on the way to the Rock Store out by Malibu canyon, but see by your older posts you are in Orange County. I looked up Cooks Corners. Can't say I've been to Trabuco Canyon, but I somewhat know the area, being from the San Fernando Valley and touring around the Laguna area. The Irvine Hilton was one of my sound projects when it was built but it's owned by some other chain now. I just wish I had my bike in So Cal right now so I could enjoy the canyon runs, which are few and far between here in Chicagoland. On the day that someone made a left in front of me back in '79 (think "right" if you happen to drive on the left), I was returning from Malibu beach (via Malibu Canyon) to my home in Studio City. I bet that all sounds familiar.

I am still here!  I lost the link to the forum a while back and have been trying unsuccessfully to relocate the forum.  It has been very hot in Texas this summer (more than normal) and I haven't ridden the Super Rocket since late July/ early August.  We have the first rally coming up in two weeks, so I will be cleaning the carb, changing fluids and general tune-up stuff.

I hope all is well with everyone.

Hello, RGS man here,
Just spent last weekend in Albany, Western Australia at the vintage and veteran hillclimb. My young fella broke the commando getting it off the trailer, so it meant we had to share the Beezer for the weekend, had a poker run on the saturday, camped at the Albany rifle club, bar etc was cheap, beer was good, and there were about 50 + there overnight. Rode up to Mt Clarence on the Sunday. Silly me , I expected a load of old fellas nursing their old bikes up the hill. Well, was I mistaken or what!! Everyone was giving every bike there (100 entries) a damned good thrashing, there were some lovely old bikes there doing some very good times. good curvy course, we had a bit of rain as well, bit of a paid, but soon dried out. The beezer god a really good work out, thrashed the bum off it, really performed well.(apart from that blasted RRT2), note must put a srambles 'box in for next years event! The bike kept up with most things, and was reasonably quick, once 40mph was arrived at anyway. Good times.

Cheers all,  Mark

Mark,
Put the RRT2 on the shelf for pose and fit an STD box.
Mine has an STD box in it as the RRT2 was worn out and now lives elsewhere.
