By the time you read this hopefully you are feeling a bit better Musky. Get yourself fit again and back on the bike and stay away from tin tops, they should ban the 'kin things.

Look after yourself mate. Brian.

As a note to Trevor,  thanks for giving us the report on Musky.  I'm sure he was glad to have a mate there to watch out for his well being whilst stuck to the tarmac.

I'm back,
thanks for the well wishes fellas. 1 day in intensive care, 3 days in high dependency, 1 day in the ward, they had enough of my antics, get out.
Sprained ankle, bruised knee, hip & shoulder, 3 ribs in about 6 places, punctured lung & chest cavity. Could have been a lot worse, the following tintop avoided me.
Haven't inspected bike yet but am told only front guard and footpeg damage.
I had just overtaken a few cars and was braking hard to pull in when the car in front slammed his brakes on for no apparent reason. No time or room to avoid him. Don't remember impact or the trip to hospital, I think I woke up when they were pushing the syphon tube into my lung (ouch).
Just inspected my riding gear, all stuffed, even got gravel rash on the lenses of my goggles ($400 perscription lenses) bugga.
Back in the saddle soon.
Cheers

Hi Musky!

Great to hear from you. Don't worry about the bike too much, that is only a heap of sheet metal, easier to mend than skin and bones.

Best wishes, Markus

He breeches! (but ship your harpoons). Good to hear from you. Actually, it seems the injuries were worse than Trevor described. Glad you're in good spirits.

Ha, yes I've had enough harpoons for a while. Haven't tried the spirits yet, rum sounds good.
Just checked the bike. Front guard & # plate, headlight rim, clutch lever & grip, small dent in tank and bent footpeg. Not too bad really.
I wish it could heal like me.
Cheers

Good to hear you're back in the land of the living.  Hope your recovery is fast with the least amount of pain possible.  Speaking of the bike healing, have you ever watched Steven King's movie Christine?

I wish all my bikes were like that !

Welcome back mate  *beer*

Hey welcome back Musky, good to hear your on the mend. As to why the car braked suddenly, who knows with some of these idiots.

In 1974 I was riding my two week old Montesa King Scorpion and came scooting around a corner to be confronted by a car reversing up the wrong side of the road ! Wrote the bike, the car and almost me off. The idiot had missed a turn off and thought he would simply back up to the turn off. The thing that ***** me off big time was the coppers booked me because I had run into the back of him, they wern't interested in what had happened, cut and dry for them. A bike had run into the back of a car, simple. That started a hate relationship with the law that remains to today.

Anyway I'm sure you will be back on the bike as soon as you can, in the meantime you will have plenty of time to search online for parts !

Take it easy.

Unfortunately the law of the land is given greater credence than the laws of physics so when you are supposed to stop you are in the wrong if you don't. I got done for driving without due care and attention for knocking down a woman on a zebra crossing. The fact that she had run onto the crossing without looking was not accepted as a mitigating circumstance.
