A7 longstroke 1947-50 valve springs
« on: 03.06. 2011 14:38 »
Hi all longstrokers, what valve springs did you use in your longstroke A7.
I notice on Draganfly's website they quote VS37 for longstroke A7s but only inners they dont list outer number. I'm waiting for a reply at present from them but wanted to hear any comments first.
I have a fair few longstroke heads with valves and springs and some inners look a bit shorter than a new set of later A7/A10 cast iron head inner springs I have and the thickness of the spring is thinner but not the width.
The outers look the same as A10. Some heads have inner springs that look the same as A10 but just a little shorter as if they are worn out.
My question is has anyone used later cast iron head A7/A10 valve springs in their longstroke? I think they can be used I dont think the inner would spring bind but I wonder why there is another number for inner.
Any thoughts?

Terry,
I just put the ST head together with "Terry's" springs.
According to the box label, they were for A7/A10 from 1947.

Terry the part numbers are the same for the longstroke engine and the early A10.

Gday Trev and Brian yes I thought so. I have the same box of springs Trev but Draganfly's website confused me with a different number. When Lauren replied to me from Dragonfly she said  early longstrokes only used VS37 inners. Well I know this isn't true so a normal set of A7/10 VS454 valve springs for cast heads will go into my longstrokes from now on.
thanks for the replies
