AIR FILTER on a Royal Tourist. Is it suppose to oiled and is so what type of oil?

Hi Mr Silverback welcome to the forum.
Paper filters aren't oiled, but if you have a foam filter, that gets oiled in engine oil then you need to squeeze any excess oil out so its almost dry.

If it is an original A10 filter it is only good for stopping rocks so I suppose a bit of oil might collect some dust from the air on it's way through.

HI guys,
It's the original A10 filter (some type of cloth, cotton maybe). The whole bike is original (except the front fender and mufflers) right down to the leather saddle bags.

If its the old vokes cloth type I'm sorry I cant advise, never had one.
Certainly, foam filters are oiled as I explained above, this is a very common and well known practice.
