i don't know who would be buying broughs in ireland back when they were made in the 20's and 30's , i think a lot of the people who were crying poverty weren't quite as poor as they made out . out t.d's for example (our version of m.p's)

HI All,
Back Today from the "Irish National Assembly" which took place all week
The video was taken on Tuesday at the lunch stop in Bantry,
My SR and my beer belly appear about 7 1/2 minutes in
I had swopped bikes with a friend for the previous 30 miles or so and rode his Goldie no.112
This goldie has a 5 speed gearbox belt primary and a Mikuni carb amongst the mods and is a real joy to ride
suspension is a bit stiff for Ireland though

The weather was excellent and the routes and scenery fantastic,

Regarding Brough's on the Rally, Theres only one with an old Irish number ZA, (Dublin) its been in the same owners hands since the mid 70's, when they didnt fetch crazy prices
The others are more recent imports rebuilt/restored by their owners and well used
I have done some work on 3 out of 4 on the rally during their restoration

The Goldie with the sidecar is ridden by Jeff Smith, former BSA works rider who travels from USA for the event
Another outfit is a US spec RGS owned and ridden by Dave Bickers, another works rider from the 60's

Several riders completed the 4 day event on veteran bikes, some single speeders

i did read your post about the rally chaterlea , and should have replied really , anyhoo i should have done the rally myself too , it looked like there were some proper classics in attendance , the celtic tiger must have been behind the buying of most of them .

                   I was one of the forty. Your a lucky lot up there, so much going on classic bike wise (shows, rallies, shops).
I have a dream of one day getting to the IOM TT. Lotto win will do it. One Ozzie with a similar dream made it a few years back. Came home in a box.
 Can't wait to see the pics, sounds like you had fun.

thats a dream for me too muskrat , i live in dublin and so am only less than 100 miles from the island , but still have never managed to get over for it  , work , family bereavement etc have always stopped me getting there , i'd like to see the manx grand prix too , its more classic orientated too .
