G'day Olev & all,
GREAT weekend, I got there late Friday. Took the scenic rout of 280 miles with 3 other Shoalhaven fellows (2 Goldies and a A65). Very overcast but rain held off. About 50 or so bikes there already. Trevor was very busy so hard to nail down for a chat. Half a dozen beers were enough for me after a long day. A little rain over night.
Saturday had more rain clouds threatening as more bikes arrived. 10 am muster at the gaol for the ride with I think over 100 bikes (I won't count the Trihards or Ariels). A good ride but directions got a bit fuzzy so the group got splintered with a lot turning up for smoko at the lunch site. I like to start at the back of the pack and overtake anything that moves (take the boy outta the race track but never the race track outta the boy). So I overtook everyone till I came up to a rider with an orange vest and thought he was the leader. Wrong, he was lost. We ended up at the smoko point but from the wrong direction ! Eventually everyone turned up. A short ride back to the lunch site. Lunch was put on by the local bush fire folk and was a bang up feed. Ah a pub next door, just to wash the food down
. About a 50 mile ride back, at about the 20 mile mark the heavens opened up. I got soaked and the old girl started missing on the RH side (no rubber thing on the bottom of the spark plug cap). It was fun holding it flat on one cylinder then half way through a corner the other would cut in. Like a 2 stroke power band. I went back to the camp site to dry out, most went to the gaol where they (the bikes) would be judged and locked up for the night. I used the bus to get over there, (the bus also took non riders around the ride circuit). Din-din was great washed down with lots of amber fluid. An auction was held to flog off any un-sold regalia. Awards were given for about 15 categories. The bus took about 50 well oiled bods back to the camp ground where more lubrication was applied.
Up early Sunday for breaky before ride home so missed the planned ride. Rained for about 100 miles but the silastic kept the water out of the plug cap. Covered 660 miles and no oil leaks. Recon the old girl would do it again tomorrow without a spanner being touched.
A few pis of us (SCMC) and at lunch on Sat. Note the B66 one of my crew got to swap rides on it, he'll be squarking about that for years.
Cheers
