Petrol Tap thread sealer

Could anybody point me in the direction of a suitable sealant to use when re fitting petrol taps to the tank? I was going to use PTFE tape but I have a feeling that it would just go gooey when in contact with the petrol....

Hi, discussed many times (try search). f. ex. see here.

Fiber washer (if needed to get alignment right), and a small amount of loctite 243 (thread lock, blue) on threads\surfaces to secure and leakproof it. Guaranteed.

Just a thought, some taps are flimsy cast items, so the locking effect of 243 may lock too well and cause a tap to crack when removing one. I've had one snap. If you use brass ones all will be fine. However, I now use good old red Hermatite which is petrol resistant (or at least appears to be!).

I've used Loctite 222, did a great job.
