A10 1960-1963 Mudguards
« on: 12.02. 2010 00:48 »
I have been for years trying to locate front and rear mudguards for a 1962SR, dont care if they are not original or a reman, but dont want them to be fibreglass.

Any idea where I can get them from? a few years ago I asked SRM and they said theyre in the pipeline, kept looking out for them and still nothing.

Just for reference they are Part # 42-6553 (front) and # 42-6904 (rear)

Ive seen a few deep valanced type on ebay and Burton bike bits but dont believe they are the ones I need

Any advice is appreciated

Hi, bl**dydrivers,
I was in the same boat. In fact I think I am the buyer of at least the rear mudguard mentioned by chaterlea25...
Now I've got it, it seems that the main difference to the earlier mudguard is mainly the position of the holes.
My advice would be to keep looking at Ebay as something will eventually turn up. They are pricey though due to the laws of supply and demand.
My fall-back plan was to order fibreglass replicas from CMF-Engineering (they are pretty cheap but it seems to be taking ages though...) because Renovation Spares 01527 543 796 said that they could definitely roll out a copy of an existing mudguard.
Hope that helps

Duncan, which one did you get? the chrome or the red one that went for 199?
They sure are expensive and if i knew the chrome one would go for what it did i would have put a bid in.
Lucky enough for me i got a chrome front guard from wes scott cycles here in fort lauderdale for $140, shame he doesnt have the rear because the UK spec is longer.

Would renovation spares be doing it in metal?
I just dont want to be waiting for them because ive been waiting for srm for over 4 years

I have sent Roger many emails. I dont believe he knows how it works or where his computer is !!
I have never recieved a response. I can understand as it takes ages to type responses to speculative emails.

Hes great on the phone though

Write to him I am sure he will respond or get up  and ring him 10am time uk GMT time.

regards

Hi bl**dydrivers,
I bought the £199 one....
Renovation Spares said they could copy an example in metal but I have no idea how much they would charge.
Interestingly, CMF called me today to tell me they were shipping the fibre glass replicas. Hopefully they'll look the same as my £199 bargain.

Hi,

I have a CMF front mudguard and am very impressed with it.  I think the delay is down to him making batches at a time.  I have fitted mine, unpainted, to my 1961 A7SS and it looks pretty good.  Will take it of and paint it once we get some decent weather.

Not sure how the rear mudguard would work since the seat is bolted to it  ???

Thanks for your help everybody, I guess Ill just have to keep looking for the rear (now have the front, but in chrome) and with a bit of luck Ill already have the rear at home in London (where the bike is) just hoping nobody had cut off any, guess Ill have my brother take pictures and sent them to me for me to find out.
