Wanted Golden Flash Tank Badges

Brian, those are for the A65/50 side panels.

I just purchased a brand new set for my A10 Golden Flash from a company called " Overlander ", I think it was in Melbourne, great product and a reasonable price.

Josh, could you post a photo of these? I wasn't aware they are made as pattern parts. THe price seems reasonable, I paid much more for a set of crumpled original ones.
I guess there are more people around that would be interested in these.

Hi Brian & Josh - the badges on Ebay worry me as they look flat and wont work with the curve of the tank so as you say Josh are probably better suited to the side panels of A65's etc. Yours look good and they have Golden Flash written on them which is grand. Think I will contact them and see how much it would cost to ship to UK

You'll need to bend these to the tank, I bent them over the edge of my work bench.

Ok I spoke to bloke that makes these I want to tell him the right answers. He can make them with a different colours but it would be good to know for sure what the original colours are and stick with that. I am led to believe there are only two types. One has the circle red and the other is black. The words BSA and Golden Flash are chrome and the lightning bolt and wings are gold. The high parts of the circle (edges) and wings are also chrome is this correct?

there seem to be a lot of different combinations of silver and/or gold background and red or black paint.

I think the manufacturers had been very flexible back then, so there have been a lot of different styles around, especially with export versions. My A7SS for example had been imported to Austria in 1955 as a new bike and had been delivered with chromed mudguards and chainguard (like ordered), a black frame and the importer fitted a Bosch horn.
I also know of bikes that came without any decals, for example.
Especially with the export bikes it is very hard to argue about what is original and what is not, because the importers obviously had a voice when it comes to styling, so that the bikes would meet their customer's taste.

              I have seen plenty of original badges and the ones that were unmolested were chrome plated with red around the centre "BSA" and "Golden Flash".
The original red was not the bright red mostly used by restorers. The closest match I could find was a model paint called "Hull Red".
As they were more than ten years old when I first encountered them the colour may have faded some but it didn't seem to have ever been bright red.
Again, time had erased any evidence of gold around the wings, if it had ever been there.
I need to photograph the original untouched badge a mate has when I get the time.

              I went to see the bloke with the badges today but was too late, he had already redone them.
I photographed a rough one he has.
The colour is faded but appears to be similar to yours. There appears to be remnants of gold in the wings.
Looking at the back, it appears to have been anodized gold. Perhaps that is how they were done with the red painted over the gold.
I also have shown one of mine.

Trev, the original ones I bought are made of gold anodized aluminium, too. The round part then was painted black, everything else remained gold.
