Mods vs Rockers Weekend
« on: 03.03. 2007 04:18 »
I posted this event on bb.com, but wanted to let you guys know that it is on!  I will be representing pre-unit Beezers...probably the only one.  Keep an eye out this next week for photos.  There are two clubs here in the North Texas area: NTNOA (North Texas Norton Owners Ass.) who welcome all types of vintage bikes but they are mainly trailer queens, and 59texas (www.59texas.org) with whom I have been riding.  We will have all kinds of bikes  etc. this weekend so be sure to check back!  Supposed to be in the 60's with lows around freezing on Sat night, so great weather all around.

Keep the rubber down and the beer in check. *smile*

I can't imagine such an event in Texas. Were the Italian scooters popular over there or will you have a shortage of mods? Perhaps it will only be the temperature that's in the sixties?

And here are some from Ben.

All told I put around 200 miles on the A10 which ran flawlessly.  Only issues that I had were that my goggles flew off my helmet on the interstate, and one contact blew out.  The Rockers definitely had more numbers than the Mods, but there was a good turn out all around.  The only other SNAFU was durring the main ride to the pub in which there were so many machines that everyone got broken up into chunks because of the traffic lights.  And then there was a bit of a parking problem.....

All around great time.

Interesting photos, thanks for sharing them. Some of the Rockers had the proper gear but I didn't notice any parkas. I suppose you are a bit too far south to get many Eskimo clothing shops  *lol*

I actually enjoyed looking at that slide show! Thanks! Lemme ask... How much attention did that old M20 attract? I know my M21 draws crowds here but out your way in the states where there are not so many, it must be an unusual sight.

LJ-

The M20 was great to see!  I have seen almost all of the "regular" BSA's in Dallas.  But this came crawling out of the woodwork!  The couple seemed pleasant, but not too chatty, and they didn't like riding next to the SR as they shot fwd in the pack.  Oh well.  The M20 seemed very original to me as it had the canvas grips etc., however I could not find the service history that I have generally seen attached to ex-military bikes.  It seemed to draw a fair amount of on lookers, so did Ernie's C10.  His dad(?) bought it in England while in the service and shipped it back to the states.  It is almost 100% original.  He generally trailers it nearby then rides, but rode 40-50 miles round trip.  That is alot considering top speed is around 40mph.

As more peoples pics come up, I will post links.  I always find it interesting to see different points of view on the same subject.

Awesome pics.  Real nice pic of the SR in the line up.  I love these posts.  It is real nice to see people getting out and riding; while we are buried in snow.   Im surprised they sell Guiness in Texas.  Good on Yeah.  Jeff

Yes we do drink real beer here in TX besides miller lite and Lonestar.  We have 3 ex-pats in our group, all from London.  They always bitch about places that don't sell Guiness, and they definitely won't touch the "pub draft cans"!

Spring is on the way!!! *smile*
