Interesting wheel rim repair
« on: 15.10. 2024 10:25 »
I've never seen this done before. Looks like a cheap make-do-and-mend fix for a rusty wheel rim.  Perhaps a good way to make a wheel presentable while you wait for a better one to come along?

I thought he would have noticed that that rim is incorrect, and not the one for that hub though.

He's said he's doing a re-commissioning not a restoration and I like that. I've seen too many cars and bikes stripped for a "full restoration" that end up being sold as parts. This way the bike stays complete.  I had a BSA repaired at a BSA dealers (when they existed) and they put the rim for the full width hub on a conical hub so half the spokes were bent (rather more than in the video) and it was still like it when I sold it 30,000 miles later *smile*.  Somehow it didn't seem that important.  I've just looked it up on the DVLA, still on the road, hope its got the correct front rim at last *smile* *smile*
