bearing size
« on: 09.09. 2024 18:59 »
Looking to fit Suzy forks to my A10 s/a frame. The Suzi tapered lower brg is just a shade too big on OD - requiring some ingenious clamping of frame to bore out.
So, might modify forks to fit the std BSA (tapered) bearing. Question - what is the ID for the bottom bearing?

Thanks,

Found bearing sizes online, so here's the plan:
Fit lower BSA taper brg and reduce dia of steering spindle 1.5mm at base for fit, and make 6mm spacer to fit Suzi top brg into frame.
Will need to shorten the spindle, but no worries. After my wrestle with fitting a PAS to a MK4 Cortina, that'll be easy. *smile*

Hi RD,
Almost all modern bearings are soft enough to machine with tipped tooling,
I would reduce the bearing outer and bore the centre
