Clutch push rod.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1952 A10 plunger. I've come to fit the original clutch plates back, but when assembled, the push rod is 1/4 inch too short. It is a six-spring clutch assembly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How is the adjustment on the box side?  Is the lock nut a thin nut and the adjuster in line (ish) with the rod?  Adjuster should sweep through the 90 deg line.
Rods are different lengths, do you have the right one?  Did it come out?
Is it in 2 pieces?  It was common to cut them in half and put a 1/4 ball bearing in the middle.  Mine is like that.  I'm not a fan as the cut ends are not hardened but it came that way.

The ball was bearing missing. Just found it on the shed floor!
Thank for your help because to honest i did not know there was a ball bearing.

I have the Haynes manual but most of the drawings and information are for latter models.
