Sale a7 crankshaft

BSA A7 1951-62 crankshaft in excellent condition and almost unworn. All journal dimensions are nominal (std.) and well above wear limit. They are:
Timing side bush: 1.3717” round
Timing side big end: 1.4583” – 1.4585” (0.0002” oval)
Drive side big end: 1.4588” round
All journals are in excellent condition and are neither scored nor pitted. There is some very slight discoloration on big end journals – insignificant in my opinion. Both threads and keyway are undamaged, sludge trap is clean.
The crank was purchased in error – it was wrongly advertised for another model bike.

nice crank, but way to expensive think you will be keeping it for that money.

New old stock parts continue to appear on the market so there must still be a lot sitting in old storage crates.  I think that will limit prices (in a good way) so £1000 seems high when a complete running bike is currently under £3000 in the UK.

 It's certainly a good looking crank, but looks to have had attention to the sludge trap plug which has been a bit butchered and replaced slightly below the cheek face, on the timing side this risks obstructing the oilway to the big ends.

 There is nothing particularly unusual or rare about this crank, at least in the UK. Sure, you can't pick one of the dealer's shelf as easily as 50 years ago, but they are still around.

 As to value, it's worth what someone is prepared to pay, and like Musky I hope that is a Typo.... Anyone had a crank grind lately? A crank good enough ready to use can be a money saver. Shame one pin is slightly out of round, but probably OK for light use, compared to the difference a full  regrind might make,  the benefit of such in this case is probably marginal.

I paid about £250 for big ends and T/S main grind and bush line bore about 2 months ago.
