With the basic design capable of mix'n match permutations, your basket case may not be all it seems. The barrel should be the so called thick flange type, and the crankshaft should be the big journal variant, identify in situ by three radial bolts holding the flywheel. Casting number on the iron head to match the barrel is 1066. Crank and barrel are still the bits most popular wit hooligans, just as back in the day, along with the  desirable alloy head.

Now don't shoot me but yrs ago when SRM were doing machine work to my motor I can't remember the guys name but was told that my iron head, which I'd moaned about wanting an alloy one ,could take bigger exhaust valves than the alloy .so thats what I had them do. So Da10  spitfire cam and followers 8.25 comp and valves increased result a really nice motor ,enough go for me and not seemingly stressed at higher speeds whilst retaining low end grunt ,works for me and I've had it that way for 10 yrs so don't despair
