+1 just put a Amal Premier concentric on my A7 plunger. Love it. Keihin PWK's are good, got two on my A10 Cafe.

Contact Hitchcocks or Surrey Cycles and tell them what bike it's for and they'll do the rest.

Monobloc is the right look and is generally an excellent carb. They are prone to wear but a hard anodized slide largely sorts that. Easy to tune all the parts are available.

I've just got a Concentric for my A10 but I have a soft spot for the Mononbloc, they last forever and are easy to work on but the float cover often weeps a bit.

Both Amals are good and easy to tune, so I've really never seen the attraction (both aesthetically and practically) of fitting Mikunis.
So they don't need tickling...whoopee do. ;)

Call me old fashioned, but I don't like Japanese parts on my British bikes.  Probably goes back to watching "Bridge on the River Kwai" as a child.

I have had no problems with Monobloc other than age-related wear. But I do like the smell of petrol on my gloves *grins*.

Seems to me that the whole point of owning these old machines is to get them and keep them as close to stock as is possible. This is especially easy when the old equipment is pretty bloody good. With my SR the choice of carb was easy as it still carried the original Amal 376 equipment and with remarkably little body wear. A new slide and needle jet and it was as tunable as the day it was made. I don't fuss about replaceable items like chains or tyres Japanese/Czech is fine for those but I do like the look to be original and at 66 years of age I think it deserves it.

Isn't the SR Monobloc supposed to be the 389? (not 376)

Biggest 389 is 1 3/16 which is about 30 mm.  My A10 has a RR or SR head (some questions remain over the parents *smile*) and has a 930 Concentric. I'd quite like a 389 as they are a good carb.
But the inlet on the head was about 1 1/16 to 1 3/32 and it came with a 626 Concentric which made no sense.  I opened the inlet up to 30 mm to match the bigger carb and got a matching tufnol spacer.
Bear in mind the late A65 had two 30 mm carbs and they start and idle perfectly well.

Same size as the hole you’re bolting the carb onto.

Jools, the 376 was fitted to the Super Rockets pre 1960.
