I have smoke coming from the header pipes. I have tried hi temp Permatex but no difference. Has anyone tried shimming up the pipes with positive results?
Any other tips or tricks to fix the issue?
cheers,
Dave

Try PTFE tape.
Would PTFE not melt? I like the idea though

RTV sealant does actually work. Give it a try.

Indeed it does. Quick and effective, and there's even hi-temp RTV sealant if the high exhaust area temperatures are a concern.
