old steam engine

this old engine made by donkin & clench was running in Australia  Cambelltown  i have seen on face ache.  the Bryan Donkin company was a big engineering firm in Chesterfield just down the road from me , famous for there work making small to massive valves for industry  NOTE the where the half nuts are, i remember a discussion on this topic

Donkin... Wonder if that's where the word 'donk' (engine) came from.

I thought it was a shortened version of "donkey" as in donkey engine?

I'm sure you're right Rex, whatever ... We have an annual tractor pull up here near Greendale, and often you'll hear a couple of dozen engines just chugging away in an enclosure ... Beautiful noise!
