This has reminded me, I sold my Harley last year. If ever there is a bike that will attract chancers and time-wasters it's a Harley. So I was putting it off, I was looking for £3k as its was a '98 Sportster. Was searching for a similar bike locally to get a feel of the market when I hit upon a local dealer advertising a commission sale service. Short story is they collected the bike, advertised it, sold it, took 20% commission and I got £3,120.
OK it took close to a year to sell, their advice was price high and wait as this is not a price dependent sale, its about waiting for the right person. This could apply to your bike too. They gave it a service and MOT (included in the deductions) and offered it will finance. They did a good write up and good photos and each month I'd get a update on how much interest. After 6 months they advised dropping a few £100 to get more interest which I did. Overall their advice was spot on and I got £120 over the price I wanted with zero hassle since the bike was collected from my home (also inc).
So look around and see if any dealers in your are will do a commission sale, and be prepared to wait, don't get into a price race to the bottom on a nice bike.
I would also suggest putting it in Mathewsons, their site gets loads of traffic, they work hard and you get the money. Go on their website and look at sold prices, I think A10s do well there. Again its zero hassle. I suspect that you put your bike up for £2k and still not get a buyer because the right people are not seeing it.
