6 1/4" brake drum
« on: 30.08. 2023 04:09 »
Does anyone know where I can source a 6 1/4" internal diameter brake drum? The one on my 1929 AJS M6 is beyond recovery and rather than trying to make one up from scratch, I'm hoping that something a bit more modern out there was fitted with one that I can modify.

I've been scouring the net but it seems a lot of lightweights had 5" brakes but the next step up was 7".

Cheers

Hi Tim,
Are you joined the pre war AJS/Matchless group?
There is  man in Germany who makes all sorts of early AJS parts

Hi John

Yes I'm a member of that group, and have seen some of the parts that are available but I'm trying to avoid selling a kidney! I needed a new kickstart quadrant and could have paid A$550 but I got one made locally (watercut) for A$135. It needed a bit of tidying up, but does the job perfectly.

Cheers
