Missing head steady A7ss
« on: 09.08. 2023 19:22 »
Hi All
I’ve just noticed while middling with my tank and looking at my carb issues I’m missing a head steady, it’s never been on the bike and when I fitted the rebuilt engine I didn’t notice it was missing!
I’ve not done many miles like this but how much of an issues is this?
I’ve read through some old posts regarding someone making one with some dampening but I figure that’s out my ability so I see I can buy a full set for fairly cheap.
Not sure why mine is missing…
Do people run without them, or is it highly recommended I fit one.
Also does it just fit to the rocker cover bolts or is it braced to the head bolts?
How easy to fit?
Thanks

G'day Hughsie.
Yes put one on. The A7's especially as they are a thin flange barrel. But in saying that it's not a problem if you don't thrash'em. I've lifted a couple off the cases but that was racing!
I think their a bad design as any torsional forces are relayed through the rocker gasket, hence oil leaks.
Cheers
