Fork seals Not tight fit
« on: 28.07. 2023 04:21 »
Following on from my previous post RE my forks.
The new seals, which are in place on the staunchions, are just a neat fit in the seal holders. I did not have to fit the seals in the the seal holders in order to fit them.
Anyone else had this?  I will now have to ensure I seal around them when I fit the seal holders. Any suggestions.
Cheers Russ

I had the same problem on my 1960 Swing arm A10 until i tried some spare seal holders that i'd got. They kept leaking and thought it was the seals that were wrong at first. I could push them in with my fingers, or as i said to Andrew that i could have blown them in.
What are your forks from and what are those seals that you're using? The seals i use are made of black rubber.

Had leaks when using seals with metal outer case. Originals were rubber (and a tad deeper if I recall). Try to get seals with rubber on the outside.

Catz the forks are 51 A10 Plunger. New staunchions, bushes and seals purchased some years ago, can't remember where from so can't give make of seals.
RDfella as the seals are now on the staunchions and fitted to the fork legs I am stuck with them so unfortunately seals with the rubber on the outside are not on.
Thanks guys for your input.
