Changing a Hawker Typhoons Napier Sabre enging in the field. The Napier Sabre was a complex engine, water cooled and with its 24 cylinders arranged in an H pattern. However, it was also massively powerful: during tests in 1938, it was found to be able to produce well over 2,000hp (the early Merlin engine fitted to the Hurricane produced a little over 1,100hp).
